This is an ongoing project that will concluded on December, 31, 2017. The rules for this project include only using my aging iPhone 5s’ camera, processing the images in Adobe Lightroom on the phone and it must be the newspaper I paid for. The paper is not allowed to the moved before being photographed.
On January 1, 2017 I walked out to pick up the newspaper on my front lawn. Before picking it up, I photographed it where it landed and shared that image on Instagram. I did this for the next seven days in a row. I soon realized I was making a statement about journalism and America. I have continued this project since then and focusing my Instagram account to just these pictures. As a former newspaper photographer, I see these photographs as my contribution to the fight against political propaganda and its influence on social media. During the editing process of this I have found that it has not snowed yet in 2017. It has rained little. My sprinkler was used a lot in the summer. The once open field next to my house has been prepared for a future subdivision. In the process of marking the passage of time, I have seen first hand many of issues facing my life happen in my front yard.
